Our primary clinic is located in Bismarck, but we regularly service the Minot and Dickinson area with on-location services one per month. Our team is composed of top practitioners experienced in leading plastic surgery techniques, both surgical and non-surgical. Dr. Rick Paulson (M.D.)

Growing up on a farm in rural Stanley, North Dakota taught Dr. Paulson the benefits of hard work at an early age. Having an artistic inclination, along with a strong interest in the sciences, destined him for the field of Plastic Surgery.

After graduating medical school from the University of North Dakota, he did his surgical internship at the University of Southern Florida in Tampa, Florida. He continued on to his General Surgery residency at the University of Kansas Wichita. He then furthered his education in Plastic Surgery at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he was trained and mentored by Dr. Puckett.

Once Dr. Paulson became board certified in Plastic Surgery, he extended his practice back to his home state of North Dakota. He was initially employed by MedCenter One in Bismarck. In 2000, he started his own practice — The Aesthetic Center of Plastic Surgery. In 2004, the surgery center was opened in conjunction with The Aesthetic Center in order to provide increased privacy and improved care with lower costs. Dr. Paulson has been the longest continuously operating plastic surgeon in western North Dakota. Not only has he been practicing for 20+ years in the Bismarck area, but he has also expanded his services to Minot and Dickinson.

Dr. Paulson’s practice has a primary focus on aesthetic surgical procedures but over the years has grown to include many non-surgical options. He performs a vast array of surgeries, covering all areas of the body, with a special interest in breast and body surgeries. As non-surgical options continue to grow, Dr. Paulson has a multitude of these procedures available in order to be able to offer the best treatments to his patients.

Dr. Paulson feels it is very important that you seek more than one opinion prior to determining the best surgeon to accomplish your goals and to be sure you are meeting with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon when doing so. Sara Fiene (M.D.)

I was born in Wichita, KS, but grew up in Bismarck, ND and consider myself a North Dakota native. I stayed close to home for both my undergraduate and medical school education, graduating from the University of North Dakota in 2015, Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Spanish Minor, and from UND School of Medicine in 2019 with my medical degree (MD).

I completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Kansas – Wichita. I graduated from residency on the day I turned 30 from the training facility where I was born.

Throughout my time in residency, I built upon my passion for Women’s health and surgery. I learned of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery certified fellowships, and realized this was the direction that would meld my passion for Women’s (and Men’s) health and wellness with my passion for surgical artistry. I was blessed to match to, and subsequently complete, a cosmetic surgery fellowship at a bustling practice in the beautiful Salt Lake City, UT.

Cosmetic surgery is naturally elective, and it is a deep privilege to be able to provide care and surgical expertise for both men and women who seek to feel better about themselves. I am dedicated to constantly learning in order to provide up-to-date surgical techniques and options for patients.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and husband. We love exploring all this beautiful country has to offer by hiking, golfing, and kayaking. We consider ourselves “foodies” and enjoy trying new, local restaurants and breweries.
