Blepharoplasty, North Dakota

Droopy upper eyelids and puffy under-eye bags can make you appear tired, older, and can even impair your vision. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, eliminates droopy skin and excess fat, helping restore your face to its youthful beauty and radiant glow.

Overview

Improve the appearance of upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both by removing excess skin, as well as, possible repositioning of the fat deposits and/or tightening of muscle and tissue.

Improve loose or sagging skin, decrease puffiness and bags under the eyes, give a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding areas of the eyes, making you appear more rested and alert.

Same day surgery, 1-2 weeks for bruising and swelling to subside.

Incisions are on the lash line. Steri-strips are placed immediately after surgery. Steri-strips and sutures are removed 1 week after surgery.

Have eye drops available after surgery as eyes may be dry and irritiated.

The blepharoplasty procedure: Small incisions are made in the natural creases of your upper eyelids and just below the lashes in the lower lids. The plastic surgeon removes excess fat and trims the excess skin and muscle. The incisions are then closed with tiny sutures. If you have a pocket of fat beneath your lower lids but do not need excess skin removed, you may opt to undergo transconjunctival blepharoplasty, a procedure in which the incision is made inside the lower eyelid, leaving no visible scar.

The entire blepharoplasty procedure usually takes about one to two hours and is performed under anesthesia in our AAAASF Certified Surgery Center. Following blepharoplasty, you may experience side effects such as bruising, swelling, dry eyes, and sensitivity to light, but these symptoms generally fade within 10 days. Healing after blepharoplasty is a gradual process. Your scars may remain slightly pink for about six months, but they eventually fade to a thin, nearly invisible white line. The final results of blepharoplasty, including a more alert and youthful appearance, will last for years and, for many people, are permanent.

Blepharoplasty Surgery at Bismarck, North Dakota can be done alone or in combination with other procedures, such as a facelift or rhinoplasty.
