Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction, North Dakota

Overly large breasts can cause back and neck pain, skin irritation, breathing problems, and bra strap indentations on the shoulders. But many women with large, heavy breasts experience more than just physical discomfort – they experience emotional pain as well. Breast reduction is a reconstructive procedure that makes the breasts smaller, lighter, and more proportionate to the body, helping to relieve discomfort and improve self-esteem. Making the breasts smaller also allows women to pursue activities they never could before.

Overview

A procedure to remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue, and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with overly large breasts.

Breasts will be lifted and firmer, helping you look more youthful, alleviate physical symptoms such as back, neck, or shoulder pain, and shoulder grooves.

Same day surgery. After breast reduction, you will have a lifting restriction of 5lbs for the first 3 weeks and 30lbs weeks 4-6. You will likely experience soreness and swelling for a few weeks post procedure.

You will be in a compression bra around the clock for up to 6 weeks.

It is important to keep incisions clean and dry to prevent unnecessary breakdown and delayed healing of the incisions.

Dr. Paulson may use one of several different surgical techniques when performing breast reduction; the technique chosen depends on your existing breast anatomy, the type and amount of tissue to be removed, and your desired outcome. A breast reduction can take two to three hours and is performed under general anesthesia. You may experience swelling, bruising, and minor discomfort, but these side effects will lessen as you heal.

If you feel uncomfortable because of the size of your breasts, breast reduction may be right for you.
