Dysport is a treatment that can smooth and minimize wrinkles through injection. Although this treatment is not as well-known as Botox, it’s been around for a long time. Dysport works by affecting neurotransmitters in the area injected so that movement is minimized and wrinkles are softened.
How often can you get Dysport injections?
Most people get their treatments every 3 to 6 months, depending on the person and their individual response. People will experience different results after their treatment sessions.
As the effects of the injectable wear off, your face will slowly return to its pre-treatment appearance. Your medical provider will have to determine a treatment schedule that can help you maintain the positive effects of your treatment.
How many Dysport injections do you need to achieve the best results?
Dysport will provide visible results from just the first treatment. You will get several “units” injected into your skin to target common treatment areas such as the forehead, between your brows, and around the eyes in one session.
When will the results of the injection manifest?
Most people see positive changes moments after they receive the injections. In fact, in a clinical study, most patients saw improvements as early as two to three days after receiving their treatments. Changes are seen gradually. Fine lines will start to soften, then the wrinkles will follow. Also, the skin will appear tighter and more lifted compared to before the treatment.
Although results appear earlier, the full effects of Dysport show up around two weeks after treatment.
How long do Dysport Injections last, and how can I tell they are fading?
Each person’s result will vary, but Dysport typically lasts 4-5 months after each treatment.
The effects of Dysport may vary according to age, the severity of skin problems, and how a person’s body processes the injected neurotoxin.
Since results show up gradually, results also fade gradually. Signs that the effects of the neurotoxin are starting to wear off include- wrinkles gradually appearing, fine lines becoming more visible, and the lift from injections beginning to diminish.
Is there downtime to this treatment?
Unlike some aesthetic treatments, Dysport treatments have virtually no downtime. It is a quick 30-minute appointment with no disruption to daily activities. Because it is an injection, there is always a chance of bruising – however, this is usually minimal, if at all. Your injector will review some of the things to avoid the first 48 hours after treatment to ensure your results are optimal.
What makes someone a good candidate for Dysport?
Before doing the treatment, your provider will determine if you are an eligible candidate. The best candidates for the Dysport™ treatment are people at least 18 years of age. On top of this, they should also be in good general health and are unhappy with dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet and fine lines. Dysport is an effective anti–aging treatment for both men and women.
