Dysport has become one of the most trusted and popular non-surgical facial treatments available. It is a temporary solution for common signs of aging; specifically wrinkles from movements such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines. This treatment is often considered anti-aging and rejuvenating. Since it softens the lines of the face caused by expressions, patients in their early twenties may even consider Dysport as a preventative wrinkle treatment. Â
Dysport treatments are minimally invasive and can be completed in less than ½ an hour. Immediately after the treatment, you can go back to your daily tasks with just minor post–care. It will not affect your daily routine, so it is an ideal procedure for busy people who want a fast, easy, and effective solution for aging.Â
The effect of Dysport generally lasts for three to four months. Your results can also vary depending on your lifestyle, your metabolism, or even outside environmental, physical, and emotional stressors.Â
Tips after Dysport injectionsÂ
The best results from Dysport injections can be obtained by going to an experienced injector, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and following post-care recommendations. Make the best of your Dysport treatment by following this post-injection do’s and don’ts.Â
Avoid touching your face, especially at the injection site.Â
Touching your face with your hands at any time can transfer dirt and bacteria that can irritate the skin. After Dysport injections, the face can be extra sensitive and prone to irritation. You should minimize touching your face in general and avoid touching your face at the injection site 24 hours after your treatment. Â
Maintain a good skincare routineÂ
As mentioned before, Dysport does not affect your daily routine. You can safely continue using your usual skincare products as you have been. You may wash your face gently and apply your products the evening following your Dysport treatment. You should avoid products such as scrubs and microdermabrasion treatments 48 hours after injections to avoid manipulating the tissues treated. Â
Avoid heatÂ
Excessive heat should be avoided for the first 24 hours after injection. Heat can irritate the tissues and increase the chance of swelling, bruising and potentially decrease the effectiveness of your Dysport treatment. We recommend avoiding hot tubs, long, hot showers, saunas, and tanning beds for 24 hours following your injections. Â
Avoid strenuous exercise Â
Although there is no required downtime after Dysport treatments, it is recommended that you avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours following treatment.  This can increase blood flow and body heat, therefore leading to increased swelling or bruising. It can also potentially cause the Dysport to spread to unintended areas or decrease the result of the treatment. Â
Sleep on your backÂ
For the first 4 hours after the treatment session, you should avoid bending over and lying down. You should also mind your sleeping position to avoid putting pressure on the injection sites. Sleeping on your back the night after treatment will help the Dysport stay where it was placed by your injector. Â
Don’t drink alcohol.Â
The consumption of alcohol 24 hours before and after your Dysport treatment is highly discouraged. Alcohol can lead to bruising and can affect the expected final result of the treatment. Â
Wear sunscreen.Â
The sun does not directly affect your Dysport treatment, but it can form new wrinkles and cause unwanted sun damage. Regular sunscreen use is essential to protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays causing unnecessary aging. It is also recommended to use a hat and sunglasses if you are outside for any length of time during the hottest hours of the day (10am-3pm). Â
Maintain a regular Dysport treatmentÂ
Dysport treatment results typically last three to four months Regular treatments will ensure that you will maintain your results and continue to avoid wrinkles caused by facial expressionsÂ
